The Associate Director, Japan Content Enablement and Delivery serves as a strategic leader and operational owner for the activation and evolution of BMS Japan’s marketing content ecosystem. The role is responsible for enabling how content is structured, governed, and activated across the content supply chain, with a strong focus on Content Central (Enterprise DAM), metadata, tagging, taxonomy, and system integration.
This position plays a critical role in activating capabilities that are still evolving, requiring strong ownership, executional drive, and the ability to lead through complexity across processes, users, systems, and data initiatives. The role ensures that content assets and their underlying data are accurate, compliant, activation‑ready, and consistently reflected across downstream platforms, enabling scalable content activation, reuse, analytics, and AI‑supported workflows.
With a primary focus on Japan within the APAC region, the role embeds local regulatory, language, and market requirements into content operations, while enabling reuse and scalability across APAC and global markets. The position works closely with Japan brand teams, the Japan Commercialization Excellence team, Agencies of Record (AORs), BIT, Mosaic, and global content stakeholders to ensure content integrity, discoverability, and operational excellence.
The position is based in Tokyo and requires fluency in both Japanese and English. Proficiency in additional APAC languages such as Chinese or Korean is considered a strong advantage.
Serves as accountable BMS point to ensure content quality and compliance per BMS standards and marketing content platforms.
Lead activation of Japan’s marketing content ecosystem, ensuring content assets and data are structured, governed, and ready for downstream use
Drive alignment and integration of data fields, metadata standards, and operational processes across systems within the content supply chain
Ensure that content assets uploaded into enterprise platforms are accurately tagged, properly classified, and activation‑ready to support downstream consumption
Build and maintain structured content libraries (claims, photography, references) that support scalable content activation, reuse, and AI‑enabled workflows
Validate alignment of assets with brand strategy, compliance requirements, and style standards; partner with MLR and PromoMats stakeholders for readiness
Ensure content quality, compliance, and claims integrity across marketing content platforms
Own the local implementation and continuous optimization of BMS metadata and taxonomy standards for the Japan market
Ensure tagging accuracy and metadata integrity so content is searchable, reusable, analytics‑ready, and interoperable across platforms
Partner with the US Content Team to adapt global standards to Japan‑specific regulatory, language, and market needs while maintaining global alignment
Orchestrate end‑to‑end content workflows across brand teams, agencies, and internal stakeholders, identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks
Coordinate across AORs, WCx, BIT, Mosaic, and technology partners to ensure seamless asset transfer and speed‑to‑market
Enable stakeholders through education on content standards, metadata protocols, taxonomy usage, and workflow best practices
Ensure Japan‑specific requirements are fully embedded in content activation and governance models
Enable reuse of Japan‑led content across APAC, supporting Japan’s role in Global‑to‑Local content models
Maintain a holistic, end‑to‑end view of the content ecosystem while driving detailed execution across initiatives

7+ years of experience in content operations, content enablement, DAM, data, or marketing operations, preferably within a regulated industry such as Life Sciences or Pharmaceuticals
Experience participating in or leading activation initiatives related to DAM, metadata, taxonomy, or data-driven content projects Experience working across complex environments involving multiple processes, users, systems, and data initiatives
Strong ability to understand, redesign, and optimize processes to enable activation across evolving operating models
Experience with system-to-system data alignment or integration (e.g., metadata fields, content data, workflows) is strongly preferred
Project or initiative leadership experience, with the ability to drive execution and coordination across stakeholders; Consulting or advisory experience is a plus
Experience supporting localization or adaptation of global content for local markets within regulated environments is a plus

Strong understanding of metadata, tagging, taxonomy, and content governance
Hands-on experience with enterprise DAM platforms or similar content management environments (e.g., AEM, Veeva Vault PromoMats)
Understanding of end-to-end content delivery, including coordination across vendors, timelines, and downstream channels
Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills, particularly in data-driven contexts
Good understanding of Gen‑AI and AI-enabled content capabilities; hands-on experience is preferred
User-centric mindset with strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to see the end-to-end picture while driving detailed execution in complex, evolving environments

English: Business-level proficiency required; fluent English preferred
