About the Role
The Velocity business unit is a fast-moving, start-up-like organization within the greater PTC ecosystem. We support the Onshape and Arena businesses and are building a modern, scalable enterprise back-office centered on Salesforce and cloud-based technologies.
We are hiring a Salesforce Developer who is hands-on with Salesforce development and eager to grow as an engineer. This role is not a Salesforce Administrator position. The successful candidate will be actively writing code, building Lightning components, developing Flows, and supporting integrations under the guidance of senior Salesforce engineers and architects.
This is a hybrid role based in Boston, MA, and regular in-office presence is required to support collaboration, mentorship, and team engagement.
Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders across Sales, Customer Success, and Customer Operations to refine requirements, and design, develop, test, and release new features.
Develop and enhance Salesforce functionality using Apex, Salesforce Flow, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and SOQL
Actively contribute production code under the guidance of senior developers and architects
Build and modify Lightning Web Components (LWC) using Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS)
Implement Flow-first automation (record-triggered, screen, and auto-launched flows)
Assist with Salesforce integrations using REST APIs, JSON, and Salesforce-native integration tools
Debug and resolve issues related to Apex code, Flows, LWCs, and data integrity
Participate in code reviews, following established development standards and best practices
Contribute code through Git-based source control and support deployments using CI/CD pipelines
Support testing efforts including unit tests, regression testing, and UAT preparation
Provide technical support and “how-to” assistance related to developed features and enhancements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
1–3 years of hands-on Salesforce development experience
Demonstrated experience writing:
Apex classes and/or triggers: (or other programming languages) (We value aptitude more than direct experience. If you are programming‑savvy and have limited exposure to Apex, we still encourage you to apply.)
SOQL queries
Lightning Web Components (LWC)
Experience building Salesforce Flows (preferred over Workflow Rules / Process Builder)
Solid understanding of Salesforce data model and security fundamentals, including profiles, permission sets, and basic sharing concepts.
Experience working in sandbox environments and supporting deployments to higher environments
Familiarity with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows
Familiarity with integration authentication methods, such as Named Credentials, is a plus
Exposure to Salesforce DX (SFDX) and source-driven development
Experience with Salesforce CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar)
Basic understanding of Salesforce integration patterns and Named Credentials
Exposure to Salesforce CPQ, Revenue Cloud, or sales operations systems
Familiarity with Jira or similar agile project management tools
Comfortable engaging with business and non‑technical stakeholders to understand requirements and use cases, with support from Business Analysts
Strong interest in software development, not just platform configuration
Ability to clearly explain code and technical decisions
Willingness to learn enterprise‑scale Salesforce architecture and best practices
Strong collaboration skills and comfort working in a hybrid, team‑oriented environment
Attention to code quality, maintainability, and long‑term scalability
