WHY JOIN ALO?
Mindful movement. It’s at the core of why we do what we do at ALO—it’s our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That’s the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.
Alo is looking for a Lead Martech Engineer to design, build, and scale the technology that powers retention, personalization, and cross-channel customer journeys. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, data, and engineering, owning the technical foundation behind Customer 360, lifecycle orchestration, experimentation, and measurement.
You’ll play a key role in operationalizing customer data through a CDP and reverse ETL tooling into activation platforms such as Braze, enabling scalable, measurable lifecycle and retention programs.
Martech Platform & Journey Orchestration
Own the technical integration and data ingestion for retention, lifecycle, and loyalty programs (partnering with Engineering on core loyalty logic).
Design and implement cross-channel journeys using Braze and related orchestration tools
Build reusable triggers, templates, and journey patterns that scale across teams and use cases
Customer 360 & Data Enablement
Partner with Data Engineering to design and operationalize Customer 360
Use reverse ETL tools to sync customer profiles, traits, and audiences from data platforms into the CDP and Braze
Ensure consistency of identity resolution, consent flags, and audience logic across systems
Maintain clear ownership of marketing data definitions and source-of-truth alignment
Eventing, Triggers & Real-Time Activation
Support event-driven activation and near real-time personalization
Define lifecycle signals and behavioral triggers that power journeys and messaging
Ensure data quality, reliability, and observability across event pipelines
Experimentation & Measurement
Enable A/B testing, holdouts, and incrementality measurement for lifecycle and retention programs
Implement tagging and campaign metadata standards to support measurement
Partner with Analytics to measure engagement, retention, conversion, and customer lifetime value
Structure HTML content and campaign metadata to be 'AI-ready' to facilitate future performance modeling and automated content generation.
Reliability, Privacy & Governance
Monitor data quality, pipeline health, and campaign delivery performance
Implement consent enforcement, suppression logic, and governance controls
Ensure compliance with privacy regulations (CCPA/GDPR), specifically designing automated 'Right to be Forgotten' workflows that propagate deletions across the CDP and downstream vendors.
Manage High-Volume Transactional IP Pools and lead IP warming strategies (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) to ensure deliverability during platform migrations.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a technical partner to Lifecycle Marketing, CRM, and Retention teams
Translate business requirements into scalable martech solutions
Document architecture, workflows, and best practices
Mentor junior engineers or marketing technologists as the team grows
A senior-level Martech Engineer with strong ownership and execution mindset
Comfortable leading complex initiatives while remaining hands-on
7+ years of experience in Martech, Marketing Operations, or Data Engineering
Strong experience with:

Braze or similar lifecycle orchestration platforms
Event-driven data architectures
SQL and cloud data warehouses
Advanced proficiency in Liquid templating logic (or similar personalization syntax) to handle complex loops, variable assignments, and fallback logic
Managing a hybrid stack of activation tools (Email, SMS, Push) with experience resolving user identity and frequency capping conflicts between vendors.
Proven experience supporting retention marketing, CRM, and lifecycle programs
Strong understanding of identity resolution, consent management, and customer data modeling
Familiar with experimentation and marketing measurement frameworks
Clear communicator who bridges marketing and engineering perspectives
High-volume Retail/eCommerce experience, specifically managing transactional messaging migrations.
Exposure to personalization, recommendations, or decisioning systems
