Our client is a profitable and growing industrial manufacturing company specializing in configured-to-order engineered equipment, with approximately 90% of operations focused on CTO manufacturing.
The company is currently experiencing strong international growth and is entering a new phase focused on operational systemization, scalable processes, and distribution expansion.
They are seeking a Director of Finance & Revenue Operations to build and strengthen the operational and financial infrastructure required to improve margin visibility, cost control, forecasting accuracy, and decision-making speed across the organization.
The successful candidate will help establish a finance and operational framework where:
Job profitability is transparent and measurable from quote to actual results
Manufacturing and engineering efforts are properly planned, monitored, and controlled
Tax compliance and reporting processes remain accurate and audit-ready
Departmental budgets are actively managed and controlled
Forecasting becomes dependable and proactive
ERP selection and implementation are executed successfully with strong operational adoption
Lead job costing and margin analysis initiatives, including quote-to-actual reporting, margin bridge analysis, and root-cause visibility
Analyze factors impacting profitability including engineering hours, redesigns, rework, expediting, subcontracting, purchasing variances, and schedule changes
Implement accountability systems for engineering costs, including mandatory weekly time tracking tied to job codes
Establish KPIs and structured change-control processes linked to cost and schedule impacts
Improve revenue operations discipline through enhanced milestone billing visibility, backlog and WIP reporting, pricing controls, and cash flow timing management
Deliver rolling forecasts covering revenue, cash flow, margins, deposits, and project milestones
Build proactive forecasting processes that leadership can rely on for decision-making
Ensure all reporting submitted to provincial and federal authorities is accurate, timely, and audit-ready
Act as a key liaison between financial operations, external accounting partners, and regulatory bodies
Lead monthly close activities and develop quarterly management reporting packages that support strategic decision-making
Oversee grant tracking, spending visibility, and audit-compliant reporting practices
Lead ERP evaluation, selection, and implementation initiatives across the business
Define operational requirements related to job costing, WIP tracking, inventory management, purchasing, billing, and reporting
Manage phased ERP rollout plans while ensuring operational alignment and adoption across departments
Potential future involvement in IT systems and vendor governance initiatives
Quote-to-actual margin reporting is implemented across the majority of projects
Cost accountability becomes system-driven rather than dependent on executive oversight
Forecasting processes become accurate, proactive, and reliable
ERP selection is completed and implementation is underway or Phase 1 has been successfully launched
The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance and operations professional with experience in manufacturing, engineered products, job-shop environments, or configured-to-order operations.
They possess strong management accounting capabilities, particularly in:
Job costing
Work-in-progress (WIP) management
Margin analysis
Operational KPI development
You are comfortable working cross-functionally and driving operational adoption across teams.
The client is looking for someone practical, direct, low-ego, execution-focused, and comfortable building systems and structure from the ground up.
Proven experience within manufacturing, engineered products, configured-to-order, or industrial environments
Strong background in management accounting, operational finance, and revenue operations
Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, forecasting, and operational KPI management
Experience leading ERP selection and implementation projects is highly preferred
Strong cross-functional leadership and operational influence capabilities
Ability to build scalable systems, processes, and reporting structures
Competitive compensation package with target base salary around $130,000 (flexible depending on experience and scope)
