Job Summary

Serves as the senior technical expert for marketing automation, backend data, databases, and CRM technologies. Translates the Senior Manager’s strategy into scalable technical architecture, standards, and solutions. Owns the auditing, performance, reliability, and optimization of Eloqua and related technologies and leads technical implementation under the Senior Manager’s direction.

Job Description

To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully.

  • Leads technical implementation and optimization of Eloqua marketing automation infrastructure under the Senior Manager’s direction, ensuring reliable scoring, segmentation, integrations, and campaign support.

  • Owns Eloqua database configuration, access, resource allocation, performance, capacity, and cost optimization; recommends technical changes based on audit and performance findings.

  • Creates and maintains Eloqua documentation for database policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Owns and schedules routine maintenance, technical audits, and remediation for Eloqua and related backend technologies to maintain peak performance, reliability, and data quality.

  • Acts as the technical liaison among Marketing, Sales, IT, and other lines of business under the Senior Manager’s direction. Converts business needs and approved strategy into technical requirements, architecture, and implementation plans.

  • Optimizes lead scoring to ensure quality leads are delivered to sales, and minimize list fatigue and opt-outs

  • Creates and manages dashboards that show database health.

  • Defines, implements and maintains marketing automation best practices including list management, optimization, data quality and hygiene, and troubleshooting

  • Monitors database performance, availability, and capacity

  • Performs data analysis and segmentation for development of targeted campaigns using various databases including Eloqua, MS Dynamics, and Keystone . Identifies and proposes ways to reach targeted segments and support Channel Marketing initiatives

  • Provides technical expertise in vendor discussions and serves as a day-to-day technical contact when delegated by the Senior Manager; escalates roadmap, contract, performance, and relationship decisions to the Senior Manager.

  • Leads the technical projects for major initiatives under the Senior Manager’s direction, coordinating requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, documentation, and technical delivery.

  • Identifies, recommends, and implements improvements to backend marketing technology, data architecture, integrations, segmentation, and personalization that support measurable results and the Senior Manager’s strategy.

  • Perform analysis that will deliver incremental value through support of marketing initiatives for all channels.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires minimum of 6 years related experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Has played a technical leadership role for several complete project cycles

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

  • Eloqua database certification or similar

  • Eloqua implementation certificate or similar

  • MS Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (CRM) or similar

Knowledge & Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of related disciplines to anticipate impact across the organization

  • Advanced knowledge of marketing automation and database management

  • Problem solving skills

  • Verbal/written communication skills

  • Brings a department and company-wide perspective to decision making

  • Strong business acumen (ROI, cost-benefit analysis)

  • Mentors technical peers and shares advanced expertise, standards, and implementation practices; this role does not have direct people-management responsibility.

  • Works effectively and regularly across functions

  • Provides technical input for recruiting and candidate evaluation when requested by the Senior Manager.

  • Can mentor other employees in implementation plans

  • Coordinates technical assignments and dependencies across project participants while remaining accountable for technical quality and implementation.

  • Recommends technical resource needs and sequencing to the Senior Manager and project leadership.

  • Applies knowledge to implement programs and initiatives

  • Analyzes data to summarize findings about programs to project teams

  • Contributes to projects that impact the organization and is accountable for impact analysis of programs and initiatives

  • May assist with priority projects as needed

  • Develops relationships with key team members

  • Will serve as a team lead for most medium – and some large – projects

  • Executes and drives results on large-scale projects and/or multiple smaller projects.

  • Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common business issues within established guidelines

  • Able to handle some unique situations

  • Develops expert knowledge of applications within business environment

  • Effectively understands and analyzes both technical and business risks and impact, and effectively communicates those risks to the business owners, so that they can make informed decisions

  • Advises the Senior Manager and cross-functional stakeholders on technical risks, options, tradeoffs, and implementation decisions.

  • Provides technical recommendations and roadmap input that help the Senior Manager develop long-term department strategy, cross-company processes, and standards.

  • Works on several complex problems / projects and troubleshoots

  • Exercises independent judgment within generally defined procedures and practices to identify and select a solution

  • Makes decisions on some complex business issues

  • Can make difficult tradeoff decisions and defend those decisions to the management team and business/users

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of relational data base structures

  • Comprehensive marketing analytics experience

  • Solid experience in predictive behavior modeling
